Read this. Rulebooks will be updated soon.

The following will be added to the respective rulebooks for the Fall 2017 Season. Some are not specifically rules, but the referees will be enforcing the list below. As of the first day (August 19th) these rule changes will be applicable; make sure you inform the members of your team.

Summary of Rule Changes Implemented for Fall 2017 Season

  • Game times are now two 21 minute halves. The first 20 minutes of each half is a running clock. The last minute will still have normal clock stoppages (dead balls, out of bounds, incomplete passes, etc…)
  • Teams are required to play with a uniform look. This means all players playing the game on your team must be wearing the same shade of shirt or jersey. No red shirts on a blue team, etc…
  • Forfeits will be given to teams who give less than 24 hours notice of not being able to make their game, if I am unable to find a replacement opponent. If you forfeit, your team will be fined ($40 for 8 on 8, $30 for 5 on 5). You will also be given a loss for that game. Your team will not be scheduled another game until the fine it paid. One of you remaining games may be taken to pay for the fine, if the fine is not paid.
  • Any players wearing a hat with a bill must have the bill facing backwards. This is to help prevent players from making contact with the bill to the face.
  • Onside Kick (still only attempt with under 5 minutes left in the game). For 8 on 8, the try will still be from 30 yards out, but the ball will be placed at the 50 yard line for both teams, regardless of try being good or not, after the try. 5 on 5 will remain the same: try from the offenses 20 yard line and after the try the ball will be placed five yards from midfield, for either team, allowing for a first down achievable start for either team.
  • Coed: No bumping is allowed.
  • Teams will now be able to call their time outs consecutively. Also allowing for consecutive timeouts to stall the start of the game.
  • Game clocks will start at game time, post coin toss. There will now be a penalty of 1 point minute for a delay in the start of the game. Example: clock will start to run at game time, once it is at one minute in a point will be awarded to the team who is ready to play. At 5 minutes late, the team who is unable to start on time will be at a 5 point deficit.
  • Referees will continue giving the courtesy 10 and 5 second countdowns on the play clocks.
  • We are adding a FIELD GOAL play (*trial). In 5 on 5, if you have crossed midfield you can declare field goal on any of your 4 downs and you will get one play from half the current distance from 3 points. If you miss the defense takes over from the original location. If you are successful a normal change of possession occurs. It is run lie a normal play, not like an extra point or onside kick. 8 on 8 will have the same option when the offense is inside the 40 yards line.
  • Face guarding is no longer a penalty. You can still be penalized for pass interference if you make illegal contact before the receiver touches the ball.
  • If a team achieves a first down on a play and they also were flagged for a penalty that occurred during the play, the penalty will be marked first and then once the ball has be placed the referees will determine if it is a first down or not. This means if you reached two yards past the first down on 3rd down, which would be 1st and 18 (8 on 8 example) and a 5 yard penalty occurred during the play, which would bring the offense back, three yards from the first down, it will not be 1st and 23 it would be either 3rd and 3 or 4th and 3 (depending on which penalty).
  • If a forward handoff is given to what a referee can determine is a back (not a receiver or line man), then that back may still throw a forward pass. Back be behind the QB before the snap.
