I was fortunate enough to get to referee two good games today. First was a B game between BAMF and Los Chancos. The defense's played very well and it was 6-6 nearing the end of the game. BAMF scored with about 1:17 left but missed the extra point. Los Chancos drove the ball well and got inside the redzone. They were able to score on the last play of the game, tying the score at 12. Unfortunately, they missed the extra point though. In overtime, the defenses play exceptionally well. A couple sacks, stopping runs short, incomplete passes and on the last attempt stopping the receiver short of the endzone. The game ended in a 12-12 tie. A total of 10 unsuccessful extra points. Both defenses played well.
Second game was Q6 and Platinum Hornets. This was close as well. Going in to halftime the score was 6-6, with Q6 driving into the redzone. A Q6 receiver made a reception on the three yard line made a spin move and dove into the endzone. The dive was penalized and brought out to the seven yard line. The clock was started at eight second and when it got to three a Hornets D-Line men jumped, bringing it back to the four yard line. They came up short though on the last play and went into the half 6-6. In the second half Q6 scored first but missing their extra point. Hornets scored next on a good move by the receiver and he then walked in to the endzone. Hornets were successful on their PAT attempt making the score 13-12 Hornets. Q6 got fired up and drove the field with the clock winding down and scored with 40 seconds left in the game. They came up short on the 2 point attempt, leaving the score at 18-13. Hornets were able to move the ball about 40 of the 70 yards and take a couple of shots to the endzone but came up short. Great game!
