IMPORTANT SCHEDULING NOTE: Scheduling requests need to be received by the end of the day SATURDAY, each week. The schedule for the following Saturday through Thursday will be created each Saturday night or Sunday and posted by Sunday night or Monday morning. So, each week the schedule is created for games coming up the next Saturday through Thursday, 7 to 12 days out. Please email UPCOMING scheduling requests to
ufa@mindspring.com, or text them to 801-541-0824, or tell Steve your requests in person at your game on Saturday (or a prior weeknight) for any future league calendar weeks. Remember, a league calendar week is Saturday through Thursday. Once the schedule is posted, it's too late to request changes. With 96 teams with different preferences, it's too difficult to switch things around once the schedule is posted.
GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME. Please get your players there early. It's not fair for the players who are there on time if refs are forced to start the clock at game time, while you're waiting for players to show up. It's also unfair for teams if later games are started late due to players showing up late for earlier games. We have a ton of games to get in each week (and on weeknights, we have to complete the games before it gets dark) so we can't fall behind and there's no reason for teams/players to not be ready to start playing at game time. Please help us to keep games running smoothly by showing up early and by having flags, shoes & jerseys on & being ready to play at game time.
Also, the rules state that if a team is ahead by more than 16 points at the 2 minute warning, the game is over. IF TIME PERMITS, refs may allow the teams to finish the final 2 minutes on a running clock ONLY if there have been ABSOLUTELY NO sportsmanship issues throughout the game. IT IS NOT a legitimate arguement to say that you "paid" for the last 2 minutes. All the other teams paid as well, and we have a responsibility to keep the league functioning for all teams. There are legitimate & obvious reasons for having a mercy rule (for the sake of both teams), but more importantly, in the past, the police have told us, in no uncertain terms, that if we did not completely eliminate serious sportsmanship issues, they would not hesitate to shut our league down permanently. When there have been sportsmanship issues during a game, it is usually at the end where the frustration of losing, etc., have resulted in serious incidents. This is why we are NOT going to allow 17+ point margin games to continue beyond the 2 minute mark if there have been ANY sportsmanship issues WHAT-SO-EVER during the game. We will also not hesitate to disqualify players, or end games even earlier than the 2 minute mark if serious sportsmanship issues warrant such an action, at the referees discretion. Please keep yourselves and your teammates under control so that we don't have to make tough decisions such as this and so that your league can continue to thrive.
5 on 5 weeknight games will be played in Sandy, under lights, starting Oct. 7 at Bicentennial Park (8680 South 500 East)
