Just had a question on a rule... If the receiver and defender both go up to catch the ball and both have there hands on it then the ball falls to the ground upon the players contact with the ground would that be a completion. Our ref told us that if both players possess the ball the completion always goes to the offense. Is this true. And even if thus is true doesn't the receiver have to complete the play by maintaining possessing after contact with the ground?

The answer is if in doubt who had first possession, tie goes to the offense. But actual possession must be maintained, including coming down with the ball.
