This thread is simply for feedback on the official website: http://www.ufafootball.com/UFAFrame.htm

Here are few of my suggestions

-Overhaul/Remodel the site, It looks like something out of the 80's, Atari syle...
-Get more pictures up there (put face's to some of the names/teams)
-When someone wins the "SHIP" get their entire team photo posted up asap.

All & all the site has been great to get the info we all need, kudo's to everyone staying consistant with running the site.

I just feel as the official website of this traditional league if would not hurt any to upgrade the style and get with the times.

All others PLEASE feel free to feedback in this matter.

We should probably just use the UFL site, it seems pretty up to date?!

Yeah. You guys are right. It has needed an overhaul for a long time. I just haven't had time to do it. My regular job has been pretty crazy for a long time. They keep reducing personnel and won't replace them so I've had to absorb alot of people's work load. That's no excuse. I just need to spend the time to do it. Jamie is also right that we are in the process of streamlining things so that everyone can go to one main page and access everything from there. We just don't want to exclude some people who are used to going to the old site in the meantime. Eventually I'll just make it so that it automatically goes to the same main page. The name "Utah Football Association" was created many years ago with the intention of trying to get all the leagues in the state to participate in a state championship and the winner would get to travel to nationals with expenses paid, etc., and to have a unified organization for football enthusiasts in Utah for various reasons (tournaments, newsletters, recruitment tools, etc.) It worked for a few years, but then we found that all but a few of the teams participating in the tournaments, the newsletters, etc., were from our league, so it became pointless because the other small leagues in the state that were run by city recreation departments just didn't care about participating. The UFA then just became the name of our league, even though it really didn't make sense for the name of a league. Now we use the UFL (Utah Flag League) as the name of the league and the UFA is the organization that "presents" the league and we keep it around for future ideas that would encompass football things beyond just our league. That being said, at some point there may be a need for a separate site for the UFA, but for now our main focus is on the league, with it growing so large, so it certainly makes sense to just route everyone to the UFL main page. I do create pages such as the schedule, standings, registration pages, etc. using the UFA website file structure because I can post those pages within seconds after I update them because I own the site and use my own software to update it, while the UFL pages have to be sent to a third party so pages on the UFL site might take a few hours (or days if the third party is unavailable- they're usually pretty fast though). This message board is updated real time though. Now, since I can update time sensitive pages at anytime, we can just have the UFL site setup so that the links to the schedule, standings, registration, etc. go directly to UFA pages that can be updated at anytime and we can set them up to open up in a blank window so that you always remain on the UFL site.

Hopefully I'm not confusing you. Basically, we are in the process of streamlining it to that regardless of which site you go to it will send you to the UFL main page and then certain links will take you back to pertinent UFA pages that can be uploaded (posted via FTL) within seconds of me updating the pages. In the meantime, as we transition it to eventually just use one site for the league's main page, I will start updating the old UFA site to look much more like the UFL site because you are correct in that it is very outdated (and it hurts the eyes for God's sake).

We also have some ideas to route you to pages where you have the opportunity to view special discounts/deals from various sponsors, announcements, etc. and these pages will also be streamlined so that everyone checking the schedule, standings, etc. will go to the same pages and see the deals/discounts at any time.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just need to go to work early a few days in a row to spend time at work updating the football website before most of my fellow assiociates arrive (they frown upon me working on football stuff while I'm at work, so I have to do it in secret).

Oh, BTW, the UFL site has all the photos for the league (as it should) so that's where you will go to see pictures of the winners, etc. Dustin has a ton of other random photos under the "Photos" link. If any of you have some good photos that were taken by spectators, feel free to email them to Dustin at utahflagleague@xmission.com and he'll post them for you. There are a few teams who won their division last season or their division in the recent tournament where their team photo is missing from the main page but that is just because Dustin doesn't have the photo to post. Actually, the Tigers won their division in the recent tournament, and the photo is missing, but their team photo is a few clicks below because they also won their division in the Spring. I think Dustin really just needs a photo from the Wolfpack and the Punishers.

Thx

In saying something like I suggested last year, I think that if teams could have 'access' to their own page to post their own photos, bios, rosters, etc. I think that would relieve the stress you guys have at running this awesome league. Im sure there are plenty o' people that would love to help the league flourish on the world wide web, me included.

Having access to post our own teams information would really bring a personal ownership to the success of the league. Just a thought...

That is a great suggestion. I am a bit of an amateur with creating web content and adding to the site, but I will look in to getting something like that ASAP (hopefully by the spring season). I really like having a spot for each team to make their own. If teammalibu or any one else has suggestions on how I can get this done, let me know.

Dustin
